We reveal to you which are the seven olfactory families in which the perfumes are divided, to more easily choose your new perfume and find your “signature scent”.

Are you looking for the perfect perfume for you? The choice – very wide – can be confusing, especially if you still don’t have a precise idea of what you are looking for.

The olfactory families come to help, or the seven main categories in which it is customary to traditionally divide perfumes. To establish this classification was the Société Française des Parfumeurs, with the aim of having a common terminology base recognized by all. Let’s find out together.

HESPERIDATE (OR CITRUS) PERFUMES

They are the perfumes that have an agreement, precisely, citrusy. The notes typically used are those of bergamot, lemon, mandarin, but also the essential oils of neroli and petit grain extracted from orange. Colognes and summer scents typically belong to this family.

ORIENTAL (OR AMBER) PERFUMES

They are warm and enveloping scents, typical of the winter season because they are generally very persistent. The chords at the base evoke the atmosphere of a fairytale orient and can be sweeter or drier. The most used notes by this family are vanilla, benzoin, ambergris, sandalwood, patchouli and the most fragrant spices.

Choose an oriental perfume if : you love the intense and persistent fragrances that leave the trail for an atmosphere of “The thousand and one nights”.
